Repetitious Recitation

The Rosary
"Say the rosary every day, to obtain peace for the world and an end to the war."-- Our Lady of Fatima (apparition of Mary),1917 "As your fingers count off the beads, you don't think about work or bills or school. You spend time with Christ and his mother." --Kevin Orlin Johnson, author of Why Do Catholics Do That? The Rosary is a selection of standard prayers repeated over and over throughout the day. Adherents use bead counters that are identical in function to those used by Buddhist, Hindu, Bahai, and Islam.(a) The beads are fingered to allow the user to track how many prayers have been said. They are: Hail Mary, Our Father (the Lord's Prayer), Glory Be, and Apostle's Creed.

Apostle's Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified; died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; They kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory Be: Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Fatima Prayer: O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Amen. |
These are recited over and over again. Also missing from the 'Our Father' prayer is the large portion of what Jesus said.
Matthew 6:13 (NRSVCE)
And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. Matthew 6:13 (KJV) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. |
Promises?
In return the apparition of Mary promised 15 things for reciting these bunches of words mindlessly. Among them the soul that recites it will not perish and will have its time in Purgatory shortened.

Can Mary Deliver?
While all this sounds like wonderful promises what we forget is the Virgin Mary was only human who was a sinner and was in no position to save anyone. On top of this Mary is quite definitely dead and unable to respond to anyone. So what is the point of constantly mumbling endless prayers to someone or dare I say something that can't do anything for you.
Would you mumble prayers to a tree? Probably not. Why? Because the tree can't do anything for you, even if it could hear you. So why would you do it to a dead person who can neither hear nor see nor do anything at all? This is what the Catholic Scripture has to says about dead people.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 (NRSVCE)
The living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no more reward, and even the memory of them is lost. Luke 16:26 (NRSVCE) Besides all this, between you and us a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who might want to pass from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.’ |
Therefore no one dead can help you. Mary is dead and buried a long time. And according to Catholic Scripture the dead stay dead and don't know anything (meaning the dead can't hear a word you say to them). You may as well be mumbling words into the wind. In order for Mary to be a mediator like Jesus is, she'd have to sinless (which she is not), she'd have to at the next to God in heaven (which Luke says she is not), and she'd have to be able to hear you (which Ecc says she can not). So what on earth is the point on praying to someone who can't hear and isn't in a position to do anything for you? It makes the whole Rosary completely and utterly pointless.
If not Mary, then who?
If not Mary, then who?
Acts 4:11-12 (NRSVCE)
11 This Jesus is‘the stone that was rejected by you, the builders; it has become the cornerstone.’ 12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.” Acts 5:30-31 (NRSVCE) 30 The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. Romans 10:9 (NRSVCE) because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 1 Timothy 2:5 (NRSVCE) For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human, |
The Catholic's own Bible says that only believing in the Jesus only can anyone be saved. Clearly the Rosary and the Virgin Mary was not only pointless but even is completely contrary to Catholic held Scripture. So how do you become saved? The apostle Peter (supposedly the founder of the Roman Catholic Church) put it quite clearly when he said:
Acts 2:38 (NRSVCE)
Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. Acts 10:43 (NRSVCE) All the prophets testify about him (Jesus of Nazareth from verse 38) that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” |
If even your first pope said belief in Jesus is the only way to receive forgiveness, why would you believe anyone afterward, whether pope or priest, man or apparition, who would tell you otherwise? Won't you believe in Jesus today? All you have to do is repent of your sins to God and accept Jesus into your heart with this prayer.
Dear Lord God. I know I am a sinner and need your gift of salvation from my sins. I BELIEVE IN JESUS, the Son of God, as my personal Savior. I believe that His death on the cross and resurrection provides forgiveness for ALL my sins past, present, & future. Please forgive all my sins and come into my heart and life. I hereby trust in Jesus FINISHED WORK alone, and NOT upon me & my "good works", as sufficient to make me right with you and fit for Heaven. Please forgive ALL my sins and come into my heart, Lord Jesus. Seal me with your Holy Spirit until the day you come to take me home. In your Son Jesus’ name. Amen.
