KJV vs NLT & MSG
by JWing
The NLT and MSG currently are the primary versions used by the worldwide ecumenical movement. The ecumenical movement stresses inclusion of all religions with the fundamental idea that all religions will get one to heaven and that the broad is the path to God. The ecumenical movement also sees the need to compromise for the sake of religious unity. Ironically they see only Christianity as the one that needs to compromise. The NLT was first published in 1996,(a) while the MSG was published in segments from 1993 to 2002.(b) The MSG is considered a paraphrase which makes it even harder to understand what is being said, making the Bible the source of much ridicule in the recently.
Below is a long but not complete list of the most detrimental differences. This page will compare King James with the New Living Translation and the Message. These two versions are utilized solely by ecumenical movements such as the WCC (World Christian Council), not to be confused with the WCCC (West Coast Christian Conference) which is not ecumenical based off of my experience.

The Message
Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches, and righteousness.
I have riches and honor, as well as enduring wealth and justice.
Wealth and Glory accompany me also substantial Honor and a Good Name.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.
Whoever goes hunting for what is right and kind finds life itself--glorious life!
How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
“How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning!
You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. |
What a comedown this, O Babylon! Daystar! Son of Dawn! Flat on your face in the underworld mud, you, famous for flattening nations!
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies.
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.
“Be especially careful when you are trying to be good so that you don’t make a performance out of it. It might be good theater, but the God who made you won’t be applauding.
for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.
I’m here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders.
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

Why callest thou me good?
“Why ask me about what is good?”
Why do you question me about what’s good?
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.
“But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven’s angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.
Ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
“So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.
“So stay alert. You have no idea when he might arrive.
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
Jesus, overhearing, shot back, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? I’m here inviting the sin-sick, not the spiritually-fit.”
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)
It doesn’t enter your heart but your stomach, works its way through the intestines, and is finally flushed.” (That took care of dietary quibbling; Jesus was saying that all foods are fit to eat.)

godless in a furnace of eternal fire.

But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
This amazed them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God.
Jesus said, “Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who ‘have it all’ to enter God’s kingdom?”
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.”
Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to really live.”
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say,
‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” |
Jesus refused, again backing his refusal with Deuteronomy: “Worship the Lord your God and only the Lord your God. Serve him with absolute single-heartedness.”
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.
“I’m telling you the most solemn and sober truth now: Whoever believes in me has real life, eternal life.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.
Hearing that, they walked away, one after another, beginning with the oldest. The woman was left alone.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work
We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over.
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

OMMITTED

OMMITTED
“We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.”
“We see nothing wrong with him,” they shouted. “Perhaps a spirit or an angel spoke to him.”
“We don’t find anything wrong with this man! And what if a spirit has spoken to him? Or maybe an angel? What if it turns out we’re fighting against God?”
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
When you love others, you complete what the law has been after all along. The law code—don’t sleep with another person’s spouse, don’t take someone’s life, don’t take what isn’t yours, don’t always be wanting what you don’t have, and any other “don’t” you can think of—finally adds up to this: Love other people as well as you do yourself. You can’t go wrong when you love others.
The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven.
The First Man was made out of earth, and people since then are earthy; the Second Man was made out of heaven, and people now can be heavenly.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren,
You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters.
Now that you’ve cleaned up your lives by following the truth, love one another as if your lives depended on it.
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
And everyone who refuses to confess faith in Jesus has nothing in common with God. This is the spirit of antichrist that you heard was coming. Well, here it is, sooner than we thought!
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
So we have these three witnesses

A triple testimony: the Spirit, the Baptism, the Crucifixion. And the three in perfect agreement.
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it...
It said, “Write in a book...
: “Write what you see into a book.
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
And the four living beings said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb.
The Four Animals called out, “Oh, Yes!” The Elders fell to their knees and worshiped.
...and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
... But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies and consumed them.
... than fire will pour out of Heaven and burn them up.
And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.
The nations will walk in its light and earth’s kings bring in their splendor.
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life.
How blessed are those who wash their robes! The Tree of Life is theirs for good, and they’ll walk through the gates to the City.
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.
if you subtract from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will subtract your part from the Tree of Life and the Holy City that are written in this book.

Conclusion:
The New Living Translation and the Message Bibles are both virtually word for word identical to the mistakes found in the NIV and NASB. They go as far as to change phrases and add in additions that are not only unwarranted but dangerous if read. It is little wonder why these two versions are only named but hardly cracked open and read by the ecumenical movement. Still fewer have notice where the two versions are at odds with each other, never minding the differences from the original Greek.
The ecumenical movement's goal was originally to unify all the Protestant churches back under the Catholic church. however recently they have branched out their efforts increasingly to non-Christians. It is possible (according to them) to reach God by way of Christianity, as well as by way of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, etc.; hence, there is no need to convert the adherents of one religion to another, because the "inspiration of the Holy Spirit" is ostensibly present in all of these religions. It is common knowledge and admitted by Catholic adherents that the Catholic Church requires their parishners to refrain from reading of any Bible and leave that solely in the hands of the Church.
But seeing such outright inconsistencies in their Bible, one can only conclude as Luther and all Protestant reformers did, that the Catholic Church truly had something to hide from even their own flock. To people such as these, even Jesus had some choice words.
