This subject is probably the one of greatest concern to all Christians, new and old alike. This strikes at the very core of God's character. For if one could lose their salvation after God gives it as a FREE gift, how could God be trusted with anything else he says or gives? Also that would make Him no better than Allah or Kryshna whom it really depends on what mood they are in at the time. If they are in a good mood, you get into paradise. If they are in a bad mood, it doesn't matter how many good things you have done, you still won't get in.
First of all can God (YWH) be trusted??
First of all can God (YWH) be trusted??
Exodus 20:6
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 1 King 8:56 There has not failed one word of all His good Promise. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Malachi 4:6 “I am the Lord. I change not.” Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;” Romans 4:20, 21 “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith [believing] giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised he was able also to perform.” Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance II Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.” I Corinthians 1:9 ”God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” |
So our God is faithful to His promises and nor He ever take back his promises. Also He does not change. This is great news for us believers. For when we accept Jesus, we in essence are accepting his covenant proposal and become joined to him. According to Jewish Wedding Customs, the moment both bride and groom are considered married for all intents and purposes the moment they both accept the marriage contract (the new covenant in Jesus's blood). So from that point on we are counting upon Jesus to keep his part of the covenant. What is his part of the covenant?
Jesus promised the following:
Our part of the covenant:
|
You may notice with everything listed as our part of the covenant to do, there is absolutely NOTHING to do other than repent of our sins and accept Jesus as Savior. This goes back to the fact that in this contract Jesus does it ALL. He is the one who saves us, He is the one who keeps us saved, and He is the one who will save us when He comes back to catch us away to Himself.
Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Jude 1:24-25 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. |
Since it is not based on our works or us doing a good job to keep ourselves saved, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief and stop striving. It is Jesus who "keeps us from falling" and "presents us faultless before the presence of His glory". We are all completely secure in His salvation. Just like workers who know their security net is sure, we can throw ourselves with abandonment to work for Jesus out of appreciation.
A perfect example how we work better when we feel secure is during the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. In 1936 when the chief engineer Joseph Strauss invested $130,000 for a vast circus net suspended under the bridge. It gave workers a sense of security as they moved and worked across the slipper beams "There's no doubt the work went faster because of the net," said Lefty Underkoffler, a Golden Gate bridgeman. (a)
This safety net caught a total of 19 workers during the Golden Gate Bridge's construction, who became known as the "Halfway-to-Hell Club." (b) One last thought for those of you who are like me, that can use all the assurance you can get.

1 John 5:4-5 (KJV)
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? John 10:27-30 (KJV) 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. 1 Corinthians 1:6-8 (KJV) 6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:14 (KJV) 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. |
Jesus message to you is clear. If you follow Him and His voice (in the Bible), no one can take you out of Jesus' hand or the Father's hand. Since they are one, it is like a child being held by a double grip of both the father and the mother. You aren't going to escape or jump out of His hands even if you tried. Much less Satan or anyone else trying to grab you away. God makes you secure. If you haven't made your salvation secure, read this and secure it for all times sake and rest knowing you are forever saved.
